Description
Nowadays complex digital circuits with a few hundred thousand of transistors (e.g. microcontrollers) up to several billions of transistors (e.g. graphic processors) can be found in nearly every technical device. They are called Very Large Scale Integrated Circuit (VLSI). This course deals with the fundamentals of design and test of integrated circuits on the basis of modern semiconductor technologies and design methods. The course is designed to provide participants an understanding of the different design steps required to carry out a complete digital VLSI (Very-Large-Scale Integration) design in silicon.
Course Objective
Participants will be exposed to the entire VLSI Design methodology, from system specification, design stages and design performance. The objectives of this course are to:
- Introduced digital integrated circuits
- Fundamental concepts of logic design methodology
- Introduce CMOS devices and manufacturing technology.
- Ability to find Propagation delay, noise margins, and power dissipation in the digital VLSI circuits.
- Ability to design Combinational (e.g., arithmetic), sequential circuit, memory.
