Overview
Learn how to install, deploy and perform the day to day administrative tasks for IBM WebSphere Portal
Version 5.0 (V5). Develop the necessary skills for an administrator, architect, or developer to administer
WebSphere Portal. Portal administrators learn how to perform the installation of the base IBM Portal Server product, portlet deployment, configuring the portal, introducing authentication and authorization, creating and maintaining user and group profiling, portal page and document management, and many other administrative tasks. Develop the necessary skills for an administrator, architect, or developer to learn to successfully deploy
WebSphere Portal.
This course does not cover programming of portlets. These skills can be obtained by attending the appropriate
WebSphere Portal developer courses.
Note: this course is a combination of:
IBM WebSphere Portal Version 5 Installation and Deployment (PW311) and
IBM WebSphere Portal Version 5 Administration (PW321)
Course Materials
The course material provides a hands-on lab based course which covers the skills necessary for an administrator to install, deploy and administer a WebSphere Portal Server V5 environment.
Hands-On Labs
Eight labs are included to address the skills transfer necessary for an administrator to install, deploy and administer a WebSphere Portal Server V5 environment.
In this course, WebSphere Portal Version 5.02 is the base product and WebSphere Studio V5.1 is the
Interactive Development Environment (IDE) for hands-on labs. If you wish to support WebSphere Portal
Version 5.1, you should take course IBM WebSphere Portal Version 5 Installation, Deployment, and
Administration (PW331).
Audience
This is an intermediate course for IBM clients, independent software vendors, system integrators, and IBM technical staff members, including administrators, architects, and developers who implement portal solutions built on the IBM WebSphere Portal platform.
