Course Description
WebSphere Portal Server (WPS) product is middleware, applications (called portlets), and development tools for building and managing secure portals for different kind of businesses. A portal is a Web site that provides end users with a single point of access to Web-based resources by aggregating those resources in one place and by requiring that users log in only to the portal itself and not to each application (portlet) they use.
As an administrator, you can customize WebSphere Portal to meet the needs of your organization, users, and user groups. You can adapt the portal's look and feel to fit your organization’s standards and customize page content for users and groups in accordance with business rules and user profiles.
The course will focus on administering portal solutions of the WebSphere Portal Server (WPS) 4.1 product. It will cover tasks for general portal administration (User Interface Customization, Portlet Deployment, User
Management, Access Control and Security, Architecture and Configuration, Portal Clustering, Installation), for using and administering content (WebServices for Remote Portals, Portal Content Organizer, Web Content
Publisher, Search, Personalization) and for using and administering collaboration (Collaboration Architecture,
Collaboration Portlets).
Units and hands-on exercises cover in detail both the Enable and the Extend offerings of the WebSphere Portal
Family.
