Duration
Essentials of Analogue Circuit Design
2 days
Overview
All electronics circuits, including digital systems, at the very least contain some analogue circuits and components. Understanding and designing simple analogue circuits is, hence, part and parcel of systems development. This course emphasises on the fundamentals of electric and electronic circuits through simulation and hands-on exercises. Throughout the course, participants will gain practical circuit design, development and debugging skills and apply them to real-world analog processing problems. The course touches on fundamental concepts and analysis techniques (resistance, reactance, voltage divider, Thevenin, KVL, KCL, superposition, bode), design of commonly-used analog circuits (passive filters, current mirrors), transistor amplification (class A, B, AB, C) and switching.
Course highlight
Participants would be introduced to the industrial standard PSpice circuit simulation tool. A series of hands-on exercises with actual integrated circuits, components and test and measurement equipment allow participants to enhance their engineering problem solving skills, while proactively enhancing their skills in circuit design. Participants
would also compare simulated and real-world results to understand their differences.
What You Will Learn
This course concentrates on the theoretical and practical knowledge to allow participants to achieve the following learning outcomes. Upon completing the course, participants would be able to:
- Apply fundamental laws and theorems to analyse analogue circuits
- Model, simulate and analyse circuits for signal processing and control
- Design and implement practical analogue circuits
- Understand the potential and limitations of circuit simulation versus actual implementation
Who Should Attend
This course is particularly suited for engineers who are about to embark on designing electronics systems.
Prerequisites
Participants are required to have a background in electronics and/or electrical engineering.
