Duration
ERGONOMICS, MANUAL HANDLING AND IT’S EFFECTS
0.5 day
DESCRIPTION
This course provides the basics of ergonomics. It addresses workers’ relationship.
With the jobs, identifying the duties of employees and employers in managing the ergonomics hazards and manual handling activities, and explaining what to do if hazards and the associated risks are not effectively controlled.
HOW WILL YOU BENEFIT
Upon completion this programme, the participants will be able to:
- Understand the various regulations and standards of Occupational Safety & Health Acts (OSHA 1994) were passed by the government, including penalties for admitting wrongdoings.
- Define the types of ergonomics hazards and sources of these hazards.
- Explain how ergonomics can be developed and the potential barriers to establish it.
- Discuss the effects of poor working conditions and unhealthy environments to the employees
- Develop various practical ways to create a healthy and safe working environment.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The course identifies employers and employees responsibilities respectively for looking after themselves and others to help them understand why they are carrying out their identified duties while explaining what is expected of them to ensure that they contribute to the safety of the sites and office.
Participants will be able to understand the need to prevent occupational disease, have an understanding of health and safety law, identify how their role fits into the control and management of the workplace, understand and appreciate the need to perform ergonomic assessment and to stop and ask for advice if not sure.
Furthermore, it will raise awareness of the need to report unsafe acts to prevent an injury or further reoccurrence of unsafe acts and proper manual handling techniques. It is an ideal foundation for those wishing to obtain an industry accreditation status as it helps prepare for such a process.
