Certified IP Professional (CIPP) Track- Configuring DHCP & DNS

Course outline

4 days

Duration

4 days

Overview

This practical hands-on course will provide you with the skills to practically plan, implement & manage both the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol and the Domain Name System. You will learn the basics of DNS structure and how it is evolving. You will configure a DNS server based on the popular BIND system creating configuration files to ensure that the services work correctly. In addition you will learn how the ENUM service brings the PSTN telephone system and the Internet together. CIPP is a vendor independent benchmark of your skills and capabilities in IP. Our hands-on approach of ‘learning through doing’ will improve your practical skills in configuring your DHCP and DNS environment for IPv4 and IPv6.

Course Objectives

You will be able to

  • Implement DHCP/DHCPv6
  • Understand how DNS provides name resolution
  • Configure automatic address management
  • Use common tools such as host, nslookup, dig and rndc
  • Key considerations in host configuration
  • Configure & implement DNS for IPv4/v6
  • Maintain & troubleshoot DNS
  • Configure DNS for services
  • Configure ENUM
  • Perform reverse lookups
  • Provide security for DNS

Who can benefit

Network administrators and Engineers wishing to build on their knowledge & skills in IP in a practical environment to implement these important IP services.

Pre requisite knowledge
