CCDA-Designing for Cisco Internetworks Solution

Course outline

5 days

Duration

5 days

Overview

The Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN) Course v 2.0 is a new version. In addition to general approaches and technologies for network design, it promotes Cisco solutions in designing and implementing scalable internetworks. Among specific goals is the promotion of the modular approach to network design that has been intuitively used for the last few years and that Cisco formalized. The early modular approaches to network design divided networks into access, distribution and core layers only, separately for the campus and the WAN part. The Enterprise Composite Model facilitates designing, planning, implementing, operating and optimizing (PDIOO) networks by concentration on a certain module and on relations between the modules. Taking into account that most network solutions today (e.g. voice, video, storage networking, content networking) are typically overlay solutions spanning several modules, the composite modular approach seems even more relevant and is the main focus of this course. In addition, services virtualization and the SONA architecture are presented. The general course objectives remain the same, because ultimately - the tasks a designer must perform did not change, however, the products, technologies, services and solutions did change.

Course Objectives

The Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN) ILT course will enable learners to gather customer's internetworking requirements, identify solutions, and design the network infrastructure and elements to ensure the basic functionality of the proposed solutions. The purpose of this course is to provide the learners with the knowledge and skills to achieve associate level competency in network design. The Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN) course is the first design course in a design curriculum supporting the design certification track. The course focuses on the technology and methods available today.

By completing the course, the learners should be able to:

  • Identify customer business needs and their internetwork requirements
  • Assess the existing customer network and identify the potential issues
  • Design the network solution that suits the customer needs
  • Explain the design to customer and network engineers
  • Plan the implementation of the design
  • Verify the implementation of the design

What you will learn

  • Discuss methodology in network design.
  • Describe how to structure and modularize the network design using the Cisco Enterprise Architecture.
  • Design the Enterprise Campus and Enterprise Data Center modules.
  • Design the Remote Connectivity modules as needed.
  • Design a network addressing plan and select a suitable routing protocol for a given network design.
  • Evaluate security solutions for the network.
  • Discuss the design implications of voice transport across the network.
  • Discuss the design implications of wireless networking.

PREREQUISITES

Cisco CCNA® certification strongly recommended.

Practical experience with deploying and operating networks based on Cisco network devices and Cisco IOS software, as well as BCMSN level knowledge of wireless and QoS topics.

The following course is also highly recommended:

Building Cisco Multilayer Switched Networks (BCMSN)

In order to achieve the status of CCDA, candidates must hold a valid CCNA and then pass the Exam 640-863 DESGN (new).

Course Outlines

The course covers all of the topics necessary to design Cisco network infrastructures to support network services and solutions:

Programme scope, delivery arrangements and suitability are confirmed during enquiry.
