OVERVIEW
Process modelling provides a way for graphically describing and analyzing the business processes in an organization and represents the foundation for essential BPM features, such as process understanding, process improvement, process automation or software development processes.
Business Process Modelling with BPMN, part of our training series on BPM, covers the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) in its version 2.0 the official industry standard for process modelling, widely endorsed by vendors worldwide. BPMN provides a large variety of options for process modelling including the ability to document complex choreographies and conversations between stakeholders and organizations. This course introduces, in a step-by-step manner, all relevant concepts of BPMN 2.0. It also provides an introduction to important modelling conventions and suggests recommendations for effective modelling practice. Frequent practical modelling exercises are also part of the course to continuously apply the learned content
BENEFITS
Align Operations with Business Strategy
Implementing a business strategy or a new business model requires changes in the operations and in how people perform their work. This can be affected only by operationalizing the business changes to the actual business processes, business rules and decisions that are made on a day to day basis by all the people in the organization.
Improve Process Communication
One area that distinguishes successful businesses and teams is that they have a very clear idea of what they are supposed to do, how they are supposed to do it and what is the exact role of every team member. Clear communication of the operational processes is critical to facilitate a smooth functioning of a team.
Improve Operational Efficiencies
In today's business environment, every business and every manager want to ensure that they are achieving the best possible results with the resources available to them. There is no room for inefficiencies and wastage.
Gain Competitive Advantage
All the benefits mentioned above lead to a significant competitive advantage for an organization that has invested the time and effort to document, simulate and improve its business processes. Studies of many wildly successful companies has often shown that their success was not due to better ideas or better business models but because they invested significantly in business process modeling to constantly refine and improve their processes.
DAY 1
In these modules participants will learn about what BPMN is, the ways in which it is similar to and different from traditional flowcharts, and why understanding BPMN has become the critical foundation skill required for anything you do in BPM. Create simple BPMN diagrams that include tasks, gateways, and multiple end states. Participants will also learn about pools, lanes, and activity types, and the important role sub-processes play in hierarchical BPMN models, fundamental concepts and why they are critical to properly structured models.
Module 1 – Overview and Basics of Business Process Modelling Notations (BPMN)
Introduction to Modelling Business Processes - Modelling Notations (BPMN)
Basic BPMN Notation
BPMN Core Elements
Basic BPMN symbols
Processes, Activities, Tasks, Procedures and Functions
BPMN principles and value proposition
Relation with other improvement methodologies
The BPMN lifecycle

DAY 2
In these modules participants will learn about the various ways in which BPMN uses intermediate events, sending and receiving messages in BPMN and the proper use of message events. Also using Error, Event Sub-processes, and how to use the Error event, and understand event sub-processes. Branching and merging with gateways and conditional sequence flows, how to use loop and multi-instance activities and multi-pool structures to describe iterative behavior in BPMN.
Module 3 - Modelling, Handling, Standardization and Conventions of Business Process Modelling Notations (BPMN)
Sub-Processes and reuse
Repetition (Multi-instance and Loop) and Arbitrary Loops
Timer event, Message event
Event-based exclusive gateway
Boundary events, interruptions
Terminate event, Error event, Compensate event

Module 4 - Comprehensive Process Modelling & Process Discovery of Business Process Modelling Notations (BPMN)
The Role of modelling conventions
Elements of modelling conventions
Examples of conventions
Organizing a process discovery project: phases, roles and responsibilities
Process discovery challenges

Note
Activities on high team interaction and role-plays will be incorporated during training session with all participants to further facilitate and strengthen candidates understanding on of Business Process Modelling Notations (BPMN) concepts and methodology in an overall manner.
Programme scope, delivery arrangements and suitability are confirmed during enquiry.
