Overview

Responding to project management's increasing growth, complexity, and diversity, the Project Management Institute (PMI)®, USA created the PMI-RMP certification to fill the need for a specialized role in project risk management.

PMI-RMP certification recognizes your unique expertise and competency in assessing and identifying project risks, mitigating threats, and capitalizing on opportunities. It also validates that you have basic knowledge and practical application in all areas of project management.

Achieving PMI-RMP certification enables you to fill the risk management specialist role on your project team, hone your basic project management skills, and showcase your specialized expertise to employers.

To apply for the PMI-RMP, you must have one of the following:

  • A four-year degree (bachelor's or equivalent) with at least 3,000 hours spent in the specialized area of professional project risk management within the last five consecutive years, and 30 hours of project risk management education
  • A secondary-level diploma (high school or equivalent) with at least 4,500 hours spent in the specialized area of professional project risk management within the last five consecutive years, and 40 hours of project risk management education

Applying For The Examination

The PMI-RMP credential examination is comprised of 170 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 3.5 hours.
